Values and principles for a sustainable future
Earth Charter UK works to increase awareness and encourage active engagement with the values and principles of the Earth Charter throughout the UK.
The Earth Charter, a United Nations' inspired Declaration, addresses the inter-connected issues of justice, sustainability and peace.
Global environmental devastation, financial chaos, climate change, the increasing consumption of Earth’s resources, the extinction of species, and human over-population are leading to widespread poverty and suffering. The foundations of global security are threatened.
Nevertheless, the Earth Charter’s message is one of hope.
These trends are perilous but not inevitable. It sees the way forward based on four foundations:
Care and respect for the community of lifeEcological integritySocial and economic justiceDemocracy, non-violence and peace
Become involved - Endorse the Earth Charter
Endorsement is an expression by an individual or organisation of commitment to the spirit and aims of the Charter. We invite you to join with us in active engagement towards the realisation of the values and principles of the Earth Charter.
